A man shot in the lung at the Osceola Mills VFW hall last year pleaded guilty to simple assault and harassment.
Jeffery Swanson, 46, Houtzdale, was sentenced to 30 days to a year in jail, plus one year probation.
DA William Shaw told the judge that it was debatable whether to charge him, and Swanson could have claimed self-defense at trial.
In April 2015, Swanson yelled for a man to come out of the VFW and fought him on the street.
Swanson apologized for making “poor decisions.” Judge Fred Ammerman said he’s “fortunate” to be alive.
