The State College Area School District has received $3.8 million in state grants to move forward with projects at two elementary schools.
The district designated Houserville and Radio Park as the beneficiaries of the two Alternative and Clean Energy grants.
The district will now move forward with its accelerated master planning update. The grants require significant project construction by June 2018.
“Once we understand the final details of the grant, we may be able to modify our timeline and our calendar, but we are expected to continue to move forward with our accelerated timeline, hoping that sometime in 2017, we will break ground on renovating additional projects,” Randy Brown, District Business Administrator, said.
Just because the district received the grant doesn’t mean the projects will definitely happen. That decision will be up to the board, which is expected to make its final decision by this Fall.
The next community forum will be held on July 18 at Ferguson Township Elementary School at 7:00 p.m.
