Congressman Keith Rothfus released the following statement on President Trump’s executive order on refugees:

“With this executive order, President Trump is keeping his campaign promise to keep America safe and secure. This measure does not apply to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Indonesia, Tunisia, Morocco, or many other Muslim majority nations, and it is not a Muslim ban. It sets up a pause on immigration from nations that have been torn apart by jihadist terrorists or controlled by jihadist governments to ensure that appropriate screening is taking place.  These jihadists have been clear about their intentions of infiltrating the West’s refugee programs.

“It is also important for people to read the order, which I have. The President has created significant waiver authority in two separate sections of this order to accommodate situations like interpreters who have helped us and other hardship cases. The administration clarified over the weekend that permanent legal residents, i.e., green card holders, should not be denied admission to the United States under the order.”
