A researcher at the University of Pittsburgh accidentally infected herself with the Zika virus ON on May 23, while working in a lab. The university says the woman began experiencing symptoms of the virus 9 days later. She returned to work Monday, after they subsided.
On advice of the Allegheny County Health Department, the researcher is wearing long sleeves and pants, and using insect repellent for three weeks after being infected.
