Republican leaders give unlikely endorsement

There is nothing conventional about the 2016 election season, not even on the local level.

Art Halvorson, who is running as a Democrat in November, just scored the endorsements of four Franklin County Republican Committee Members.

The four members resigned on Monday, in order to openly endorse Halvorson for the seat in the 9th Congressional District against Incumbent Bill Shuster.

Both candidates are Republicans, but Halvorson received enough write-in votes on the democratic ballot to be listed as a democratic candidate in the general election.

Of the four resigning from this committee, three of them are also resigning from the Franklin County Young Republicans (FCYR). Also one of those resigning was the Vice Chairman of the FCRC and another one was the Vice Chairman of the FCYR, both at the time of resignation.

All four names are noted below with offices.
