NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. (AP) — Police say a man out on his newspaper delivery route was shot and killed in New Kensington.

Officers responded to the neighborhood around 3 a.m. Thursday for a report of shots fired and a car accident. Police found a Chevrolet Impala had crashed into a chain-link fence in front of two homes.

Police say the driver had been shot once in the head. He was identified as 69-year-old Gregory L. Smith, of New Kensington.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say Smith had just begun delivering newspapers this month.

Multiple shell casings were found at the scene. Officials are looking for possible video footage or witnesses. They don’t know if it was a random shooting or a robbery attempt.
