The community is coming together to remember Pennsylvania State Trooper Landon Weaver, who was killed in the line of duty.
Weaver’s public viewing is taking place Jan. 4 at the Blair County Convention Center. His funeral will be at the same location Jan. 5.
Convention Center Boulevard is open Wednesday, but will be closed for part of Thursday.
Allegheny Township Police said the plan is to shutdown Convention Center Boulevard, starting at 7 a.m., before the funeral begins at 11 a.m. Thursday and the only way to access the road will be from the Plank Road entrance. No vehicles will be permitted to drive up the boulevard from the Route 36 entrance.
Police said funneling everyone in through the Plank Road side will cause traffic and delays, but they will do their best to get everyone where they need to be.
“Having that happen here and everybody knowing him, it really affected everybody,” Taylor Garman said. “So, it’s going to be a big turnout to be there, to help support him ’cause, like I said, he really didn’t deserve that. He was just doin’ his job.”
Convention Center Boulevard will reopen after the funeral procession leaves the area and heads toward Trooper Weaver’s final resting place in Martinsburg at Fairview Cemetery.
The road to get there is lined with businesses all showing support and condolences.
Memorial contributions in memory of Trooper Weaver can be made to Troopers helping Troopers.
There is also a bank account set up at Altoona First Savings Bank in Trooper Landon Weaver’s wife Macy’s name, to help her in this time of need.
