Members of the Red Cross say you have just two minutes to get out of your home when it’s on fire.

This weekend they are being proactive and are installing smoke alarms in homes in Johnstown’s Hornerstown neighborhood and in Dale Borough.

The 60 volunteers hope to install 400 smoke alarms Saturday.  They’ll be out from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

They also plan to educate you on having an evacuation plan out of your home, just in case it ever happens to you and your family.

Twenty homes are already signed up to get their free smoke alarms.  Members of the Red Cross say if you see them out, don’t hesitate to ask them for help on Saturday.  You can also call 814-262-3177 to register your home.
