The car honks and horns could be heard in front of the Clearfield County Courthouse for hours on Wednesday, all in support of Lily Jane.
Four women held the brightly colored signs, trying to gather support for the, now, four week old baby. Organizers of the rally said it was scheduled to be going on simultaneously with the preliminary hearings of Aaron Mills and Staphanie McGuire. The couple are the baby’s parents facing numerous assault and drug charges, after state police say they assaulted the child. They were originally arrested on Saturday, after the doctor found the baby was suffering from two broken legs, a broken rib, and internal injuries when she was three weeks old. The most recent charges were handed down on Tuesday, pushing the couple’s preliminary hearing date to Wednesday, March 15th.
Today, rally goers held signs to try to gather support for their cause. Their signed donned words like “justice for Lily” and “give them the life sentence.” Organizers say they’re devastated and heartbroken that parents could do that to their child. One organizer saying that the strength in Lily’s fight is which others should be fighting for her justice.
Organizers are planning a bigger rally outside of the Clearfield County Jail, where Mills and McGuire are currently being held, for their preliminary trial on Wednesday.
