The September 11th National Memorial Trail may be coming to the region if a proposal is passed.

The multi-use trail would go through nine municipalities in Blair County, literally linking the Flight 93 National Memorial with both the National September 11 Memorial in New York City and the Pentagon Memorial.

The proposal was passed by the planning commission, but needs further municipal support.
However, no financial support is needed at this time.

Within the county, the trail would run off of Lower Trail, roughly parallel to Route 22 and go all the way through.

Not only would it honor victims, but officials say that by bringing new visitors to the area, it would highlight the industrial and transportation history in the region.

The next meeting for the proposal will take place on April 14 in Hollidaysburg.
