Attention smokers! Cigarettes in Pennsylvania are about to get more expensive. 

 

Starting on August 1st, the new cigarette taxes, enacted by the new budget package will go in affect and the price per-pack of cigarettes will be raised by $1. 

 

The tax hike will put Pennsylvania to the Nation’s 10th highest cigarette tax. 

 

The tax increase is supposed to generate about $430 million to help balance the State’s budget.
