Preparations are underway for a big festival in DuBois.
We found volunteers and city workers out putting up speakers and checking out the set-up for Community Days, which starts on Friday afternoon at the City Park.
Organizers say they’ve raised more than $100,000 to fund the 25th year of this celebration, which will include musical acts Band X from Atlanta and Uptown Band from Philadelphia.
“We do raise money, however we spend every nickel that we make. It’s just a way for the DuBois Volunteer Fire Department to say thank you to the community and we get an awful lot of help from the city of DuBois government, with the street department and the police department, and it’s just a complete community effort.”
The parade is set for Saturday at 5 p.m. with fireworks following later at 10 p.m. Local non-profits will be selling food to raise money for their groups.
Baronick says the parade grand marshal is Pittsburgh Penguins radio announcer Mike Lange.
