For some weather is no excuse to miss work.
That’s especially true for postal workers.
Around 9:30 Tuesday morning letter carriers in State College loaded up their trucks and hit the road.
Chris Reinhardt, an employee for USPS, said he expects his deliveries to be delayed about an hour.
He added that as a mail man, working around weather conditions just comes with the job.
People depend on their mail service for various reasons so he said it’s important to be prepared.
But the snow and ice undoubtedly makes their routes difficult.
Early in the morning he said his boss noted that if some residential streets aren’t plowed, it may not be worth the trek.
But there are a few things everyone at home can do to make things a little bit easier.
“Shovel out your mailboxes, shovel off you walkways and steps. That’s great. That’s a big help. I think everybody made it in. I think all the routes are covered today so we’re in good shape I don’t know what’s going to happen when we get out there. You never know,” Reinhardt said.
He said he can only recall one time weather forced him to take a day off and that was in 1993.
