The Cambria County district attorney, Kelly Callihan, tells WTAJ that Narcan is not the answer that will solve all of our drug problems, but it will help to save lives.

All local police departments will be carrying it in near future.

Before they can carry it every department needs a Naloxone or Narcan manager.

Callihan says they are just about ready to apply for doses.  It is recommend that there are two doses for every patrol car that is in service and then it will be restocked as used.

Callihan says that state police is already carrying it.  She credits them for helping to answer questions to other departments about how you use it and says there is no liability attached to it for the officers giving it.

“I am proud to say that law enforcement has really stepped up in this area.  We have over 40 law enforcement agencies working here in Cambria County and we have 100% buy in from all of the departments to carry Naloxone.”

Callihan hopes it will be in all Cambria County departments within the next few weeks.
