Police say they’re investigating after a young boy died sometime overnight in a Ridgway home.
Local and state police including a forensics van were in the 100 block of Main Street on Wednesday afternoon.
The police chief says the boy was staying with an aunt and uncle at their apartment and that they called police this morning.
Chief Ralph Tettis said they had been there since around 8 a.m. and would be on scene for however long it takes the forensics team to look over the upstairs apartment.
Coroner Michelle Muccio said the 5-year-old boy was pronounced dead at 8:42 a.m., and the cause and manner of death are still under investigation.
“We’re in a preliminary investigation right now of a child, juvenile male that passed away through the night and just as protocol and procedure we have the forensic unit of the state police here helping with the investigation,” says Chief Ralph Tettis.
A family friend says she rents the store underneath and that at least two young children lived there.
