Police chase suspect through two counties

A wild police chase sped through two counties at high speeds before ending in a crash along old Route 219, just outside of Ebensburg.

The incident began in Blair County after Freedom Township police received a call about a possible retail theft at Wal-mart.

One man was detained. Assistant Chief Nathan Claycomb tells WTAJ News the other suspect was questioned during a traffic stop, but then took off.

State Police joined departments from Cambria and Blair County in the pursuit.

The chase went through Newry, even going off-road at times.  Claycomb tells us the driver then went up old Route 22 near Cresson and through the town of Ebensburg.

During the chase several police cruisers were damaged.  It came to an end after the driver rolled his car.  He took off into the woods but was arrested a short time later.

Officers on scene tell WTAJ News the man may have been intoxicated.  His name is not being released at this time.

Some police officers are being treated for injuries but we do not know if they are serious.
