Plans are in the works to create a greenway, connecting Milesburg to Bellefonte. Organizers said it would have a big impact on economic development.

“This would tie Tallyrand Park and the Waterfront Project along the entire Spring Creek corridor toward Milesburg,” Centre County Commissioner Mark Higgins said. “It would generate additional traffic for some of the new businesses opening in Bellefonte. There is just so much going on in Bellefonte  right now and this adds to the activity in a positive way.”

The idea to develop greenways and bike trails across Centre County, specifically in the Bellefonte area, have been under consideration for about a year now.

“The benefits for real estate values, attracting seniors to the area, which we have a growing population, the healthy initiatives and also alleviating parking problems, which has been an issue in Bellefonte in the past,” Jack Schuster said.
