New businesses are making their way to Cambria County and setting down roots.

Cambria Township Supervisors have approved several plans for new infrastructure, but developers haven’t broken ground on some of the facilities yet.

They’re all going to be business and retail spaces located along the Route 22 Corridor.

There are commitments for two medical centers, an Aldi’s supermarket and a Tractor Supply, which are expected to open later this year.

Those developers have been in talks with the township for about a year now.

There will be room for more buildings for shops and other facilities.

Cambria Township Supervisors say that they hope to bring more jobs to the area and keep young people here locally.

We caught up with the chairman of the Cambria Township Supervisors who says businesses want to come to the area, but first they need to work with PennDOT before making any decisions.

“Penn DOT has a pretty big role in this because those are state routes up there and with the traffic congestion. So we meet with Penn DOT first along with developers tossing some ideas around and that stuff and try to get traffic controlled first.”

Penn DOT, Cambria Township and the developers are working now on a plan for syncing up traffic lights to avoid congestion in the area and make the roadways safe for folks shopping in the area.
