After several reports of scammers posing as People Natural Gas employees, the company sent out the following letter to customers warning them:

Dear Customer,

Please be informed that Peoples has been made aware of a telephone scam in which a caller, identifying as working for Peoples, asks customers to purchase a gift card in order to avoid loss of gas service. If you hear of this in your circle of family and friends, please spread the word that it is a scam.

Peoples NEVER asks customers to pay with a gift card or pre-paid card of any kind.

ALL of our disconnection notices are sent by letter.

ANYONE receiving these calls should file a police report and can call our customer service line if there is any doubt: 1-800-764-0111.
