Penn State remembers Paterno

Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris was among the Penn State Lettermen who returned to Happy Valley this weekend to remember their old coach.

Saturday’s game against Temple marks 50 years since Joe Paterno’s first game as head coach.

Mike Irwin and John Runnells who were the team captains in 1966 took part in the opening coin toss and other teammates took the field.

After the fallout of the Jerry Sandusky scandal the Paterno statue was removed, but today fans were able to visit a smaller memorial outside of Beaver Stadium.
