STATE COLLEGE- Adam Hinton, 25, is facing more than 1,500 counts of felony and misdemeanor charges after court documents say the Port Matilda man admitted to having hundreds of files depicting child sexual abuse.

Police say they used a search warrant to search Hinton’s laptop and found 535 images in a folder titled “Toddler, babies, little girls”. Police say the majority of the images show infantile sexual abuse.

Hinton was working as a substitute custodian at Radio Park Elementary School in State College. The district superintendent emailed parents informing them about the incident. They said in the email that they do three background checks for all employees including substitutes like Hinton.

One parent found out about what happened from his eldest son.

“I think he explained it like somebody is not supposed to be there and he did something wrong,” says Rashid Alriyami, a father who has three children in the elementary school.

He says he is alright with his child learning about the incident.

“It gives everybody awareness,” says Alriyami.

He adds he hopes the district is more vigilant in the future.

“Hopefully they will be careful with the substitute teachers and staff working at the school,” says Alriyami. “That will keep the school safe and our kids safe.”
