Pennsylvania health officials met with teens Monday to talk about issues facing young people. The two groups got together at the Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg, to kick off Teen Health Week in Pennsylvania.

The discussion centered on how teens across the commonwealth can improve their health. Subjects tackled this week will include opioid abuse, diet and exercise, self-harm and violence. Health officials say it’s important for families to address these issues.

“I think it’s important to listen to your teens and to talk very  openly about about risky behavior to talk about sex to talk about drugs to talk about issues like depression, about eating disorders and have that type of open conversation with your teen and  to have them develop healthy behaviors,” said Pennsylvania Physician General Rachel Levine.
