An area hospital is overwhelmed by the community’s response to a request for help. UPMC Altoona says more than 200 people have called and applied to be Cuddlers in its nursery. The new program trains volunteers to soothe newborns going through opioid withdrawal.
The hospital says it’s grateful to the caring people of the region for their willingness to help. Applications are no longer being accepted due to the tremendous response.
