More than 100 crew members from AEP Ohio and Ohio Task Force One are now in the gulf coast to help with Hurricane Michael relief efforts.

They will stay in Tuscaloosa, AL until the storm passes and then help with restoring power and dealing with downed power lines.

“For years, utility companies across the country have been committed to helping one another during disaster recovery. Today, we sent almost 300 AEP Ohio company and contractor crews down south as Hurricane Michael approaches. Our crews will be ready to relocate wherever we’re needed to help get power back on for those affected by the storm,” said Dave Callahan, AEP Ohio Director of Emergency Preparedness.

The Ohio crews are joined by thousands of National Guard members and state law enforcement officers who are all getting ready to respond to threatened areas.
