PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities in western Pennsylvania say an off-duty police officer was critically wounded in a shooting in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh public safety officials say officers responded to a report of gunfire in the Homewood section of the city at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and found the male officer with multiple gunshot wounds.

The officer, whose name wasn’t released, was taken to an unnamed hospital for treatment and listed in critical condition.

Police said several people attending a party near the crime scene were questioned and a SWAT team was called to search a house. It’s unclear whether the victim had been at the party.
