A new hotel is open at the site of the DuBois Country Club that burned down in 2014.

General manager Mark Burnett says the country club re-opened last September and the Comfort Suites opened on Mar. 28, and together they have more than 40 employees.

Attorney Toni Cherry says she and her physician husband Dr. P. Joseph Valigorsky own the hotel, which took more than $6 million to build with financing from a Clearfield bank.

Shaner Hotels of State College is now managing both businesses.

“We are a 65-room, all-suite hotel. Every room has a microwave and a refrigerator. We also have 9,000 square feet of function space for any type of event: weddings, family reunions, birthday parties,” says Burnett.

The manager says the hotel itself has about 20 workers. The pool is under construction and set to be finished in about a month.
