Just in time for cooler weather, a new boiler is up and running at the Clearfield County Courthouse.

Commissioner John Sobel says workers started it last Monday, and also did work on the ceiling to make it easily accessible.

Sobel says the old boiler kept needing repairs, and also, once it got going, it built up steam which could make the second floor too hot.

“It will come up to proper heat more quickly with less pressure, so I don’t think you’ll have quite the problem we did before about things getting too hot in the building, at least I hope not,” says Sobel.

County workers say construction has been going on since June on the roughly $230,000 project. The new boiler heats the main historic part of the courthouse, but not the annex.
