(CNN) — The United States, Mexico and Canada have come to an agreement.

President Trump is expected to lift steel and aluminum tariffs on the two countries as early as Friday.

This clears a key hudle for the President’s replacement for the North American Free Trade Agreement. Canada and Mexico would not ratify the new agreement until the tariffs were removed.

President Trump imposed the tariffs more than a year ago in response to what the U.S. called a flood of excess Chinese commodities onto global markets.
