President Trump had a phone conversation with Mexican President, Enrique Pena Nieto, Monday in the Oval Office to discuss a new trade deal between the two countries.

“We’re going to call it the United States-Mexico Trade Agreement, and we’ll get rid of the name NAFTA,” said President Trump. “Has a bad connotation, because the United States was hurt very badly by NAFTA for many years. And now it’s a really good deal for both countries, and we look very much forward to it.”

The new agreement would be the biggest change in the U.S. trade policy under the Trump administration if Trump gets rid of the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) agreement and replaces it with a deal between solely the US and Mexico.

If the agreement is made, it would be a controversial deal from the president, as it would eliminate Canada from the arrangement.
