Opening arguments started today in a murder case against a Centre County man.

Vladimir Podnebennyy is facing first and third degree murder charges, among others, for allegedly killing his wife, Natalya last October.

Police say the 64-year old College Township man stabbed his wife multiple times in the chest while she was sitting buckled in her car.

The two were apparently separated at the time of the murder and she had reportedly been staying at the Centre County Women’s Resource Center in the weeks prior, in an effort to get away from her husband.

The trial is set to resume Monday.
