Mold discovery will not delay start of school

For the second straight year mold was discovered inside a building at the Westmont Hilltop School District, but school officials say it is not a serious matter.

Interim Superintendent, Steve McGee, said a company called Mountain Research was hired to conduct thorough testing of classrooms, hallways, and surrounding areas.  The company concluded that the mold discovered on carpeted areas in the school were primary colonizers and common in nature.  McGee added that both airborne spore samples and tape lift samples of surface areas and walls were analyzed and indicated the lowest levels.

Professional cleaners will be in the building this weekend to do a thorough cleaning in the affected areas.

School will start on September 6 as originally scheduled.
