A man is behind bars after leading police on a chase in a stolen police cruiser.
State Police say they were called out to Chesnut Street in Gallitzin, Cambria County to help with a resident of the Sunset Support Services. Once an office arrived Gerard Warren, 24, took off on foot and broke into the Gallitzin Sewage Treatment Plant. When the officer entered the plant to find Warren, he escaped in the officer’s crusiser.
While the officer was running after Warren, he had some type of medical emergency and was transported to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Warren took the crusiser down State Route 53 through Cresson Township and the borough. Two other officers were able to box Warren in and stop him on State Route 22 near the Munster exit.
In an interview following his arrest, Warren said he ran becuse he did not want to live at the Sunset Support Services house anymore. He also admitted to never have driven a car before.
