Man in critical condition after violent domestic dispute

Police have released additional information on an incident that landed a man in the ICU and a woman behind bars.

Police said the couple was arguing early Wednesday morning in Altoona.  Twenty-year-old Jocelyn Baker got in her car and tried to flee, but she ended up critically injuring 22-year-old Darell Adams.

According to Altoona Police Lieutenant  Jeff Pratt, Adams was either hanging on or trying to get into Baker’s vehicle as she was driving off.  He ended up pinned and dragged against other cars that were parked alongside the road.

Adams was taken to UPMC Altoona but has since been transferred to UPMC Presbyterian for surgery.  Police said he is currently in the ICU for numerous head and brain injuries.

Currently, Jocelyn Baker must settle her unrelated, outstanding warrants, but she is not yet facing any charges in this incident.

“In the meantime, if she takes care of her warrants and whatnot, yes, she’ll be free to walk about as a free person as guaranteed by our constitution,” Lt. Pratt said.

Lt. Pratt added that reconstructing these types of scenes can take awhile, even months.
