Police say an Indiana County man left another man’s body in his house for three days after shooting him.

It’s a bizarre crime that neighbors say involves the owner of the house, and his roommate.

David Yingling, 61, Arcadia, is charged with criminal homicide in the death of Elwood Skillman, 50.

The complaint says Yingling shot Skillman on Monday at the home in the 300 block of Arcadia Road while Skillman was sleeping, but didn’t know what to do with the body.

The DA says it was during a school concert at Purchase Line on Thursday when someone reported to an off-duty Cherry Tree police officer working security that there was a murder and the body was going to be removed.

The officer called state police, who went there around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, police said.

Police say they found Skillman’s body on the bed, with blood on his chest, and that Yingling later admitted the shotgun and rifle he used were in his bedroom.

The complaint says Yingling said he was tired of the victim insulting his brother’s intelligence, calling him names.

“There was an individual with some physical disabilities in the home and there was some allegations that there was possible bullying or activities that would go along with that,” says District Attorney Patrick Dougherty.

“I see them every day and I petted their dog and it’s just now he’s gone and it’s weird. We’re not friends or anything, but it’s still scary,” says neighbor Sara Nealer. “I talked to Elwood a little bit every now and then. He came for a Band-Aid one time and I gave him a Band-Aid.”

Yingling was arraigned this morning, taken to the Indiana County Jail and is not allowed bail. Dougherty they’re awaiting autopsy results.
