Along 3rd Ave.in Duncansville you’ll find blue and black tape wrapped around light posts in honor of Trooper Landon Weaver who was killed in the line of duty.
Throughout Central Pennsylvania other community members are doing what they can to show support for the fallen officer and his family.
In Altoona, The Curve baseball team put Weaver’s name in lights, as a reminder for those who drive by.
For those further away who want to show their support, the Because We Care Foundation and “Keystone Pin Ups ave teamed up to make t-shirts.
Renee Kareuter, founder of Keystone Pinups, said all proceeds will go directly to Macy Weaver, Trooper Weaver’s wife.
On the back of the shirt is a portrait of Weaver, tied into a black and blue American Flag.
On the front it reads “Never Forget.”
Kareuter said it’s there because Weaver’s “sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
Jessica Digennaro, President of Because We Care Foundation, said in just 24 hours, they’ve already raised $2,000.
“I’m actually in awe of the amount of people that are willing to help somebody that they don’t know personally, you know it’s just, it’s amazing,” Digennaro said.
She said she’s managing it all independently but with help from the ‘Pinups’ and other volunteers, she’s processing orders to be shipped nation wide.
She added that as sales increase, she’s asking folks to be patient with responses.
Kareuter said social media has encouraged orders from people across the country.
“They want to show the officers the support that hey, we’re supporting you, whether we’re in California or Florida,” Kareuter said.
“There’s a huge, huge support system locally and nationally,” Kareuter said.
Both hope the Weaver family can feel the compassion from their community.
“I hope they find a sense of comfort in knowing that they have a community that supports them and is here for them during this time,” Digennaro said.
