Interns with the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies are giving back.
The youth philanthropic interns chose three Johnstown-based projects to receive $50,000 in grant funding.
Over the summer, the interns met with local officials and civic leaders to asses community needs. They said improving the perception of the city is something they want to address.
“Sometimes, we want the youth to have a more stronger, powerful voice. If we can work to change our own community, we can then, in turn, begin to see it in a more positive way,” said Adeline Mishler, an intern with the program.
The three groups receiving the money are the #MyVoiceMyCommunity, the Johnstown Tomahawks Foundation and Bottleworks Ethnic Arts Center.
