WTAJ Originals: Tussey Mountain High art project

After six weeks of hard work, students at Tussey Mountain High School presented their newest creation: A mural representing their Titan pride.

“These are the kids’ ideas, you know, so it would at some point during the residency I sort of stepped back and just let the kids kinda put their ideas together.”

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art brought Bob Zabrosky in to work with the kids on the project. The museum partners with the Pennsylvania Council on the arts for the artist-in-residence program, which brings a professional artist into communities for 20-days to help with local art projects. 

“It’s gonna be a focal point for these students and future students,” said Bob Zabrosky

The mural incorporates different aspects of life at the high school and includes unique touches showcasing each student artist.

“Everybody contributed their own little detail to the project and it made it what it is now.”

Adam Baughman’s art classes are consistently filled with students like senior Doak Hoenstine, who says he enjoyed working with his classmates on the artwork that will hang in the hall forever.
