A man accused of beating his girlfriend to death is expected to face homicide charges.
Marcus Taczanowski allegedly beat 34-year-old Jessie Gordon of Westmont, last week.
She was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Hospital but died Wednesday from blunt force trauma to the head.
Taczanowski is currently facing aggravated assault charges but Cambria County District Attorney Kelly Callihan says charges will be upgraded to homicide in the next few days.
She says this is the second deadly domestic violence case she’s worked on in the last few weeks and gives a warning to those in an abusive relationship.
“If you’re in this type of relationship, you need to get out. It is literally life or death. An assault can turn deadly within moments,” said Callihan.
Police say before Gordon died, she told a friend Taczanowski was the one who beat her.
