Our Wine Week continues with a trip to Oak Spring Winery in Blair County where a combination of local and state-wide grapes are used to make some award winning wine.
Right now it’s the fruity blends, like their award winning Blackberry wine that is flying off the shelves.
“We do 25 different varieties, anything from dry reds and whites to sweet fruit wines and everything in between,” says wine maker and general manager Scott Schraff.
Located in Altoona, Schraff says location plays a key role in the business’s success.
“We are literally one mile from Interstate 99. We have highway signs up there, it’s one of the most heavily traveled roads in the area,” he said.
Oak Spring Winery is open 7 days a week and has a wide selection. You can even enjoy a Pennsylvania brewed beer, in house.
You can purchase their wine at the Tasting Room or pick up a bottle at one of it’s 8 Sheetz locations.
The Tasting Room in Altoona can be rented out for parties. For more information about some of the events at Oak Spring Winery, click here.
As for the future, Oak Spring Winery is raising a glass to it’s 30th year in business.
