After vandals destroyed a little league baseball field in Altoona, the community came together to clean up the damage.
Saturday, volunteers helped clean up the East End Little League baseball field after vandals destroyed it last weekend.
Three elementary students were arrested for breaking in and a causing about $20,000 in damage.
On Saturday, volunteers power-washed, cleaned the scoreboard and the concession stand.
The Altoona Curve even helped out and cleaned the infield.
“Things are broken now, but they always can be put back together with, you know, just the surrounding communities. There’s always somebody out lending a hand. Just not to look down at it, you know. Just move forward. Try to always move forward with everything,” said Brad Himes, the vice president of the East End Little League.
Volunteers helped pull up weeds and clean the batting cages. Little league officials said they’ll be ready to play ball again in the spring.
