Veterans and families gathered in Somerset County Tuesday morning for the 2nd Annual Veterans Breakfast Club.
The event took place at the Conemaugh Township Volunteer Fire Department. Veterans shared stories, both happy and sad, from their time in the military service.
Organizers said July 4th is a time to celebrate our freedom and the people who helped make it possible.
“I think there is no better way than to spend the day talking with a veteran, asking about their service, hearing how they were called to defend and serve the country we love. Perfect way to spend the holiday,” said Todd DePastino, the executive director of Veterans Breakfast Club.
The Veterans Breakfast Club hosts dozens of events each year throughout Western Pennsylvania. Working alongside Veteran Community Initiatives, they plan to continue the tradition in the greater Johnstown region each Independence Day.
