People came together at the Alto-Reste Park in Altoona Sunday to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Memorial Day service is a tradition that Robert Good started back in the late 1920s, but it stopped for a little while after the Vietnam War.

George Good, Robert’s grandson, brought it back in the 1980s so people can continue honoring America’s heroes.

“It means we have an opportunity to bring people together to remember the sacrifices that were made so we can stand here free today,” George told us at the ceremony.

WTAJ’s John Clay, a US Navy Veteran, emceed the event.
