The James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center established water connectivity Friday after experiencing a water main break Thursday night.

The fix was resolved quickly, and the personnel have begun an extensive process to guarantee the water safety. This process requires several steps to include flushing the system and implementing several tests for water purity.

“We want to thank our community partners, local businesses, City of Altoona and Blair County for their quick response and dedication to our Veterans,” said Director Sigrid Andrew, “We are grateful to be in a community that has made the sustainability of this facility one of its priorities.”

The VA Medical Center will continue to operate in a reduced water status until their standards are achieved.
