A world-renowned urban planner from Texas is coming to Johnstown next week to help find ways to improve downtown.

Andrew Howard is an internationally-renowned urban planner. He started a program called Team Better Block, which looks for quick, inexpensive and easy ways to improve city blocks.

Vision 2025 leaders want to turn Gazebo Park, a street along Central Park, into a pedestrian walkway.

“In the summertime, it’s a pretty effective farmers’ market space. In the wintertime, it’s a pretty effective Christmas market. We can program it in all sorts of ways and have a much more vibrant and robust urban space,” said Ryan Kieta, the facilitator for Vision 2025.

There will be a Team Better Block Johnstown workshop on Tuesday, August 29. It runs from 4-8 p.m. at Flood City Cafe on Clinton Street. It is open to the public.
