UPDATE: I-99 at the Route 22 interchange is back open after two women from Johnstown were killed in a three car crash just before 6 p.m. Monday, according to Blair County Coroner Patty Ross.
It happened along Mile Marker 28.5 in Allegheny Township.
Ross said 37-year-old Sabrina Fowler and 52-year-old Valerie Jenkins of Johnstown, were passengers in a Dodge Caravan that crossed the median and hit a Hyundai Sedan head-on. That’s when a third car ran into the back of the Hyundai, and all three cars left the road.

The women in the Hyundai, a mother and daughter on their way to Penn State from Kentucky, also suffered from serious injuries. Mary Jerde, 64, and her daughter, Sara Lajeunesse, 40, were taken to UPMC Altoona.
The two people in the third car weren’t hurt.
