A PennDOT worker is dead after a heavy equipment accident Thursday.

It was reported Thursday that a man was trapped under a piece of heavy machinery. The incident occurred at 12:48 p.m. Police were called to a work zone on Juniata Valley Road in Frankstown Township in Blair County.

The victim, Bryan Chamberlain, 30, of Imler, PA, was a passenger on the heavy equipment when the machine allegedly popped out of gear for an unknown reason.

Police say the driver attempted to stop the equipment from rolling backwards, but was unsuccessful. The driver was able to jump from the equipment before it went over and down a steep embarkment.

Chamberlain was thrown from the equipment, and was crushed between the machine and a tree.

The Blair County Coroner’s office was called to the scene.
