UPDATE: New information on Osaze Osagie

STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WTAJ) — It is now known that when 29-year-old  Osaze Osagie reportedly came at police with a knife inside his apartment, before he was shot and killed, that it was not the first time he threatened individuals with a knife.

Court paperwork shows that back on June 8 of 2013 Osagie pulled out a knife on a man playing basketball at Orchard Park in State College.

According to court paperwork, Osagie approached the man from behind and demanded the man’s basketball.

When the man refused, Osagie pulled out a knife and again demanded the ball. Others around told the man it wasn’t worth the fight and  Osagie was given the ball and then fled the scene toward the park’s bathrooms.

The next day officers were investigating a report of a man throwing a brick through an occupied apartment window on Pugh Street.

Witnesses gave a description similar to Osagie and officers found him near Pugh Street and Bradley Avenue.

An officer asked Osagie for is ID. As Osagie emptied his pockets the officer saw a pocket knife sticking out of Osagie’s pocket.

The officer demanded that Osagie slowly remove the knife and drop it in the grass. He did as he was told.

Osagie was taken back to the State College Police Station where he admitted to pulling out a  knife and demanded to be given a basketball.

Osagie said he then left the scene and “dumped his basketball” in a neighbor’s pick-up truck.

Osagie was charged with three counts of robbery related to threatening someone with bodily injuries and taking an item through force.

Along with a theft by unlawful taking charge, and a receiving stolen property charge.

Osagie plead guilty to one count of robbery, taking property through force.

He was sentenced to at least six months in prison, with a maximum of two years jail time, along with five years probation.

If Osagie served the minimum prison sentence, that would mean he was about one month away from the end of his probation when he again pulled a knife out on individuals and was killed.

It’s now known that Osagie was autistic, but there was no mention of mental health anywhere in court paperwork related to this 2013 incident.
