UPDATE: 3 State College schools cleaned of mold, declared safe for students

Mount Nittany Middle School and Corl Street and Radio Park Elementary Schools, all of which had some mold growth from recent humid conditions, have been thoroughly cleaned of all mold, tested, and declared safe for students.

In a news release today, the State College Area School District say they received tests results from an independent air quality specialist clearing Corl Street, Radio Park Elementary Schools, and Mount Nittany Middle School for occupancy, excluding the library.

Mount Nittany’s library is still being cleaned, and air quality testing is scheduled for later this week. This does not affect the safety of the rest of the school.

“We are grateful to the contractors for their clean-up of the impacted schools,” Superintendent Bob O’Donnell said. “Additionally, we appreciate our faculty members for their flexibility and patience while the problem was resolved.”

The district sent a letter to all district parents to let them know of the updates, and said they will welcome faculty and staff starting Wednesday.
