The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Thursday that road construction in Johnstown will begin Monday, September 10.

Prime contractor, Quaker Sales Corporation, of Johnstown, will be working on Routes 3016 (Vine/Bedford Street), Route 3024 (Adams Street) and the Route 56 eastbound on-ramp resurfacing project in the City of Johnstown and Dale Borough in Cambria County.

Work on this project will consist of milling and resurfacing, installation of new ADA ramps, as well as guiderail and sign upgrades. Work on Route 3016 (Vine/Bedford Street) will extend from the intersection of Route 56 and Route 3016 (Vine Street) to the intersection of Route 3016 (Vine Street) and Levergood Street. Work on Route 3016 (Bedford Street) will begin adjacent to the BP gas station and stop just prior to Horner Street. Work on Route 3024 (Adams Street) will extend from the Bedford Street intersection to the Main Street intersection.

On Monday, the contractor will begin work on the new ADA ramps located on Route 3016 (Vine Street).

There will be long-term signing and flaggers to direct traffic. Drivers should slow down, pay attention to signs and signals by flaggers, avoid distractions and be aware of PennDOT workers and vehicles.
