A Conemaugh Health System employee held a presentation on opioids and addiction for a local business community in Cambria County.
Marlene Singer is the coordinator for community health and employee wellness at Conemaugh Hospital. She says drug addiction is still prominent in the Johnstown region.
Cambria County had the second highest drug-related overdose death rate per capita in the entire state in 2017.
Singer also talked about prescription drug abuse and how it can lead to addiction and affect anyone, even employees leading seemingly normal lives.
“These folks are everywhere and from every walk of life, including the business community,” Singer said.
The group also discussed the dangers of abusing pain medications after sports injuries or wisdom teeth removal in teenagers and young adults.
